Council’s planning policies and development controls guide how land is used and developed across the Shire.

These documents set out the standards for building, heritage, environment, and community outcomes, ensuring growth is well-managed while protecting the character of our towns and villages.

 
Development Contributions

Development contributions help fund the local infrastructure and services needed to support new development.
They may apply to residential, commercial or industrial proposals.

Biodiversity Assessment & Approval Pathways

If your proposal may impact native vegetation or threatened species, you must comply with NSW biodiversity legislation.

Development Applications on Exhibition

Applications and proposals currently on public exhibition are listed on the
NSW Planning Portal.
These have been notified or advertised in accordance with Council policy.

  • Hard copies are also available for public viewing at Council Chambers, 55 Cowabbie Street, Coolamon.
  • You can make a submission online via the Planning Portal or lodge a written submission with Council during the exhibition period.

If there are no items listed on the Planning Portal, there are no current applications on exhibition.

Development Approvals / Consent

Council publishes development approvals each month in accordance with planning legislation.

You can also use the Application Tracker on the NSW Planning Portal to check the status of any development application lodged with Council.

Mapping

The NSW Planning Portal provides public access to a range of planning services and information including documents or other information in the NSW planning database that can give you information on a piece of property, including zoning, information on control plans and contribution plans that apply to the land and much more.
